Have you been looking for ways to feel calmer, more joyful, and positive? Grounding (also known as Earthing) can be one way to get yourself headed that way.
There are many reasons to start a practice of grounding, not only does this support your physical body, health and nervous system but it is an opportunity to get really present with yourself even if it is just for a few minutes a day.
Benefits of Grounding
There are many benefits to grounding, here I will list a few:

- Improved mood
- Stress reduction
- Less anxiety
- Improved focus
- Improved sleep
- Promotes physical health (anti-inflammatory)
- Helps to Balance your energy fields
- Brings more self awareness
- Improves physical balance
Now all of these can and will improve physical health to a degree because it is natural for us to be attuned to the rhythm of the Earths vibration. Rubber soled shoes keep us disconnected from the earth so we now need to actively connect our bodies to the Earth to keep us in sync. The Earth is a big support for our physical bodies.
What are the common ways to ground?
- Walking barefoot on the Earth: Walking on soil, grass, sand, and even concrete can be somewhat grounding.
- Grounding Mat and sheets: These can be very helpful and be used while sleeping, sitting and working.
- Outdoor activities: You can ground while swimming in natural bodies of water, and gardening.
- Guided Meditations: Find a meditation that you can listen to and imagine the grounding process.
What is the best way to ground?
The most beneficial way to ground is to walk barefoot on the earth. I suggest each week you go out barefoot and connect with the earth. Even spending time sitting in the grass or laying on the grass for 15 to 20 minutes with the intention of connecting deeply to the Earth.
I highly recommend if you cannot get outside daily that you try to get out once a week to walk on the Earth while holding the intention of connecting deeply into the earth.
Grounding Meditation you can do on your own
I will share a process you can do anytime from anywhere with just a few minutes. I use this often and anytime I am out in public and feel off balance or have anxiety kick up.
- Take three deep breaths and relax your jaw, your shoulders, shake the arms a bit.
- Using your imagination is important. Visualize your energy coming out of your feet, like tree roots, and going deep into the center of the Earth.
- Then imagine that beautiful pure Earth Energy rising up through your feet, into your ankles, up the calves, into the knees, into the thighs, into the pelvis, into each organ, up through the torso, into the chest, to the neck, down each arm to the fingertips, then back up each arm to the neck, into the jaw, teeth, face, eyes, brain, and through your whole head. You are now grounded.
You can always run through this process more than once if you need. From my experience the more you ground, the more you use these processes you can quickly and easily ask for the grounding process to run on its own when you request it.
I have mine programmed that I can say, “I am grounded” and this process will run. I just start with a couple breaths and allow it.
I do have a guided grounding meditation on my YouTube Channel along with other helpful videos, click here for the grounding meditation. Please subscribe to my YouTube Channel if you find this helpful.
In my personal experience if I do not ground or have forgotten or not kept up with my practices, I start feeling off balance, anxiety starts when I leave the house, I may trip or fall, I have a more difficult time making decisions, or remembering things. I may react in a more frustrated or negative way than I truly mean to. If i notice these things and I feel wobbly in anyway, I always run through a grounding and typically it helps me to get back to myself.
I would love to hear your experiences with grounding, please comment our experiences help others greatly.
