Were you aware that we exchange energy with everyone and everything that comes into our path on a daily basis? Everything is energy vibrating at different levels so every interaction causes a shift in our energy fields. Sometimes its a great shift as you just visited a friend or loved one that is happy and full of life, but there are times we have a friend or loved one who is maybe depressed, or just in a negative mood and that can affect us as much as the opposite.
Here’s an example: I had a friend who was very depressed and after having a phone conversation with her I began to become deeply depressed, this deepened every day. It took me 3 days to realize it wasn’t mine and I hadn’t put up protection or a filter recently so I was connected to her continuing to feel her depression. I immediately put up a bubble and I consciously sent her love and imagined her energy separate from mine. I quickly returned to my normal happy self.
HSP? Empath?
Life can be difficult for an average human but if you are an Empath or a Highly Sensitive Person you will benefit greatly from shielding your Aura or energy body on a daily basis. As an Empath or HSP you are highly sensitive to all energy. You may unintentionally absorb the energy around you or from those you live or work with. Energy can build up in your Aura or Energy body and affect your energy levels, your mood, your decision making, giving you brain fog, even physical pain etc. A simple grounding and shielding of your energy can help you have easier days and interactions.
Grounding
Equally as important as shielding is grounding your energy daily. We are connected to the earth so if we ground we have the solid foundation of mother Gaia to help support us through our day. Before you set up this shielding bubble of light I suggest you ground. You can do any of the following:
- A quick stepping out onto the earth barefoot with the intention of grounding your energy,
- a quick guided meditation. Here’s mine on YouTube
Basic grounding instructions:
- Take a few deep breaths, clearing your mind,
- Imagine yourself as a tree
- Sending your energy down through the feet into the center of the earth.
- with a couple deep breaths imagine pure earth energy running up through your feet and your entire body (through every cell, between every cell of the body).
Shielding your Aura

Whether you are an empath or HSP or not it is important to shield your Aura or Energy body on a regular basis. It’s becoming imperative in todays chaotic world. If you work in a high stress or highly charged environment it is even more important to protect your energy daily.
What does shielding your energy mean? It means you put up a bubble of light around you in order to keep your energy body or Aura from being affected by the energies you encounter on a normal day.
This is a simple tool to use and it is all about your intention and imagination.
- Ground your energy (see above)
- Simply take a few deep breaths, close your eyes
- Hold the intention that only peaceful and loving energy comes through to you and you only send out the same loving and peaceful energy.
- Imagine a bubble of pure light (whatever color you feel) around you, 5 to 10 feet out around you
You can use whatever color of pure light comes to mind or you can use blue for physical protection and Violet for general shielding. I have used pure white, golden, or even a pure crystalline light made up of all colors as well as pure blue and Violet. The intention you hold is very important, so be sure you are holding a pure loving intention while setting this up.
There are times we want a filter type of bubble that is more permeable and there are times we want a more structured or solid bubble around us. Depending on the situation or atmosphere you will be in that day you may want a bubble that allows flow or if you are in a highly charged negative atmosphere you may want that bubble to be more solid and protective. Use your judgement and if there is a time you are out and you feel you need a better bubble of protection than you set up, you can excuse myself for a minute and just step outside the situation or find a restroom to take a moment to reset that bubble. Practice does truly help so do this daily for a couple weeks and it will become easier and will hold up better.
